Hampton Art CHA New Release Projects

Hi, I"m back today to share with you a couple of the cards that I created for the new product release at CHA. The design team was assigned different stamps for the show, and we each were chomping at the bit to see what goodies would arrive in our mailbox. Well, you know I was thrilled to receive a big box of goodies from Hampton Art! We had a quick turnaround time, so papers, stamps and inks were flying around my studio. But there is something really cool about the rush of getting ready for the big show. I hope you enjoy!

Supplies:
Hampton Art Stamps: NEW Art Warehouse Dreams Grow (IC0237)
Clearsnap:
Archival Ink: Pumpkin Pie
Pigment Ink: Moss Green
ColorBox Chalk Ink : Dark Moss, Chestnut Roan
Mix’d Media Inkz Embossing Powder: Truffle
Top Boss Watermark Ink
WorldWin Papers Cardstock
My Mind’s Eye Patterned Paper: Stella Rose
Embossing Pen
Madeira Machine Embroidery Thread

Instructions:
1. Stamp three carrots by inking the top portion with the Moss Green and the lower portion with the Pumpkin Pie. Fussy cut, and ink the edges with the Chestnut Roan. Shape the leaves by wrapping them around a pen. To add the roots to the carrot, take a short piece of embroidery thread, and glue to the back, letting a tail hang down.
2. Glue the carrots to a piece of brown cardstock, so that it looks like the leaves are above the ground and the carrots are below.
3. Use an embossing pen to trace the word “Grow” from the stamp, stamp on the lower corner of the patterned paper and emboss with dark brown powder. Machine stitch around this layer. Ink the edges of the patterned papers using the Dark Moss.
4. Finish as shown.

 Supplies:

3. Add a mat of dark brown behind each of the frames.
4. Ink the edges of patterned papers with Chestnut Roan. Arrange as shown.

Tea Lovers Gift/ Mini Album

Are there any tea lovers out there?  Then, I hope you will enjoy this mini- album and holder I have to share with you.

I started out with a Tea Pot Party Favor from Kaisercraft. It's such a cute little box, but was begging for a mini album to sit inside of it.  So I thought it would be really fun to create a little album to hold tea bags from around the world.  Wouldn't this make a great gift for any tea lover?

I started off by painting the wood teapot, and then covering it with patterned paper.  Since I was going to highlight teas around the world, I thought the addition of map paper would be a great choice.

I die cut my large letters andI ran them through the Xyron 900 Creative Station to apply my adhesive.  All of the Xyron machines are great for adding adhesive to intricate die cuts. You can arrange as many cuts as you wish (right side up), and run them through at the same time.

You just crank the handle, add your cuts come out on the other side.  Rub your finger over the film to make sure the adhesive is secured, and pull the film away.  The letter is ready to be applied to the project. Super easy!

I also added a narrow strip of trim - using CLD Celtic Band. Since this is narrow, it worked very easily with my Xyron Create a Sticker 150.  I always keep this on my work desk, because it's so handy for attaching little small bits and bobs.
This works on the same principle, except there is no handle to turn.  You simply start feeding your paper through the top of the machine, and then pull the adhesive sheet out on the other side.

It comes out like this - and again, you just rub and peel.

To finish decorating my box front, I used an old silver plated tea spoon, and hammered it flat, and added my title with alpha stickers.  (It looks almost like paper here - but it's really not!)  I tied a big bow using May Arts Twill Stripes 382-34-14 Ribbon.

Now it was time to make the album.  I decided to create a paper roll album, so each page would have a pocket to tuck a tea bag in. After I flattened the tubes, I covered each one with a different coordinating paper. I also made the outer cover by using left over cardboard, and covering it with cardstock.  So, this project is a perfect way to use those recyclables.

Then the fun began - embellishing the book! Why don't you take a look?

Did you notice the tea bags peeking out? This project not only is fun to look at- but it smells great too! Thanks for sharing a cup of tea with me today.

Cherry Blossoms

I tend to make a ton of square cards, because I really like the symetry - but sometimes, just trying a different sized card can get your creative juices flowing.  This card is 3 1/2" x 8" - and I love the long, skinny look.  I used papers from The FarmHouse Paper Company- Market Square Barbershop.   The borders surronding the text is from the Spellbinders' Resplendent Rectangles (I just cut one of the rectangles in half).  Finally, I used the new Spellbinder's Cherry Blossoms die set for the focal point. The edges of the flowers were inked with ColorBox pigment ink, and then each flower has a pearl from Want2Scrap to finish it off.  This was a quick card to put together, and would be easy to replicate if you needed multiples of a card.

Scor-Pal Decorative Box With Drawers Tutorial

I've got a tutorial to share with you that I wrote for the Scor-Pal blog.  If you like trying different types of projects, be sure and check out all of the great how-to's found there.

It's so fun to find inspiration on Pinterest, and today's box was inspired by a box found on the site from Marianne.  This one is a three drawer version and would be perfect for special trinkets.

Heartfelt Prayers

I really love the homespun feel of these papers from Farmhouse Paper company! I created the flowers using Spellbinders Rose Creations and Glimmer Mist.  The sentiment and the flourish at the bottom are from the JustRite Vintage Filagree Fancies (designed by Becca Feeken).  I also used the rose stamp from that set to make a watermarked image underneath the embossed sentiment.  It doesn't jump out at you, but adds another layer of interest.
