May Arts and Faber Castell Week

This week, the May Arts Ribbonistas are hopping with Faber Castell - and have so many great projects to share with you!  Be sure to stop by the May Arts Blog to see the goodies that the Ribbon Lady will be giving away for this hop (a wonderful selection of May Arts Ribbons and Faber Castell products!)

Since I used quite a few mixed media techniques for my Halloween card, I thought it would be easier to share a video with you, rather than having such a long blog post! I hope you enjoy it and will try some of the techniques out yourself.

Heartfelt Creations Inspiration

It's that time of the year to vote for your favorite designers from Heartfelt Creations to see who will stay on the team!  I really hope that I have inspired you, and that you will take a minute to cast your votes.  Here are all of the details:

Vote for your favorite Designers: When we announce a new design team call that also means that we have a tough time deciding which of the current designers continue on the HC design team. We are giving you the opportunity to get involved and vote for 5 or more of your current favorite design team members. You can CLICK HERE and submit your vote. When you vote, you will also be entered into a drawing to be eligible to win a $50 HC Gift Certificate. You can only vote one time and you have to select 5 or more to be eligible to participate. Voting ends on April 18th, 2013.

Also, HC always adds new designers to the mix - and my very talented sister, Lori Williams is in the running - so if you would vote for your favorite new designers as well (there are two separate polls and each one has a prize to be won!)

Vote for your favorite Semifinalists: We would love to have you particpate and vote your 5 favorite semi-finalists. Review each one of their blogs and then CLICK HERE to submit your vote. When you vote, you will also be entered into a drawing to be eligible to win a $50 HC Gift Certificate. You can only vote one time and you have to select 5 or more to be eligible to participate. Voting ends on October 18th, 2013

Thanks! and on to my card for the day....

Kromekote Papers from WorldWin

Today I have a card to share with you using the new Kromekote papers from WorldWin.  In real life, these papers are so shiny and pretty - and no matter how I tried, I really could not capture this finish in my photo.
It really does remind me of shiny nail polish!  I used a mother of pearl and a deep red and combined them with the Elan Metallics for a very elegant card.  The sentiment was from Inspired by Stamping and was heat embossed with a black embossing powder.  The dies are all from Spellbinders.

I will have more Kromekote projects over the next several weeks, so be sure to stop back by.

Easy Back to School Project with Xyron

It's always fun to surprise your back-to-schooler with a special treat, tucked into their backpack.  My nephew loves to color, so I made him this fun little Crayon tin using an up-cycled Maya Road Tin and my favorite Xyron adhesives.

So this is what the tin started off like - but of course, you could use any similar container that you had.
I traced around the base of the tin - to make a liner.  After this was cut, it went easily through my Xyron 5" Creative Station.  For something like this, that will get a lot of use and abuse, you want to use an adhesive that will keep the whole sheet down, and not peel up.  So Xyron does the trick.
I did the same thing for the lid (but had to trace around the acetate window).  To finish the box off, I used May Arts Ribbon.  My favorite way to glue my ribbons is with the Xyron 1.5" Sticker Maker.  I ran the length of ribbon I needed through the machine, peeled off the backing and added it to the box.  I used the new High Tack Adhesive Dots to apply my ribbon.
What a fun way to carry your crayons in style!

Beautiful Friend

School officially starts back today - so I thought it was a great time to start sharing more fall-themed cards.  Just by adding some fall foliage to my flower cluster it really helped with the theme.  After I cut my flowers, I painted them with Viva Decor 3D Metallic Stamp Paint, and then shaped them.
