Wild About You

I'm going on an adventure...not just because I have this adorable MFT's zebra on my project, but I've decided to venture out on a card safari of sorts.  I love the cute and whimsical style cards, but I don't usually make many of them.  One of my goals this year, is to create more of these, but hopefully still adding my own little bits to them.

I added lots of texture to this card, and colored over the image with the Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens (which looks quite lovely in person).  My favorite little detail was using a piece of frayed baker's twine to mimic the Zebra tail - it makes me smile every time I see it! ( I did add just a dab of glue to the twine to keep it from unraveling more.)

I was sent one of the new Andy Skinner  set, Cling Curiosity stamps.   I thought a masculine card fit with the stamp set, and somehow knots seem like the perfect ribbon treatment for a guy card.  This knot is the Carrick Bend, and I always have to look up how to tie this, I can never remember.  So I guess while I consider myself a pretty good card maker, I don't think I would have ever made a good boy scout!

You Were Born to Sparkle

I've been snowed in for several days and have enjoyed having some time to spend with family and just relax. But, of course, for me, scrapbooking is relaxing. So, I've got this fun layout to share with you today. 

I wanted to create a mixed media background, but wanted to keep the layout light and cheerful.  I used a Finnabair stencil with the Prima Clear Crackle in it, and then added color around the texture with the Prima Oil Pastels. (They were also great to color the heart canvas shapes.)

Downton Abbey Collection Debuting on HSN

 I'm so excited to share that the Downton Abbey Papercrafting Collection will be debuting on HSN, this Tuesday with Sara Davies of Crafter's Companion. I have enjoyed this series since the first season, and to have a wonderful paper line inspired by the show is fantastic.

It's always fun to look at your local thrift store with crafting ideas in mind.  I found this silver-plated tray and painted the inside with chalkboard paint and then embellished it on top of that. To add a neat row of glass glitter on the rosette, I just placed double sided tape and added the glitter on to it.  It kept the lines even and pretty.

I'm sure this collection is going to sell out fast, so here are the times that Sara will be on air.

 I am back on the ColourArte Blog with a project to share. I know I have scrapped this picture before, but I just love it.  And everytime I look back on my sweet nephew, I can't believe how much he grows up overnight.

I have had so much fun coloring with the new Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens, and have another example to share with you. I love the vintage look of this butterfly when added to the patterned papers from Graphic 45.

I love old-fashioned looking Valentine's Cards, so I kept with a soft, aged look for my card.  I cut the heart in the card front and filled in the space with lovely lace.  The pink silk bow finished it off perfect!

Quality - The Word for 2016

Happy 2016! I am not one for making New Year's resolutions, but I do like the challenge of picking an inspiring word for the year and working towards goals associated with it.  For this year, I chose the word quality.  I want to strive for quality in all that I do...the time I spend with my family, the foods that I eat, the art that I make.  If something is worth doing it is worth doing right! I created this tag as a reminder throughout the year, not just for the first few days of January. While I was working on this, it gave me time to reflect on what I can do to make 2016 a great year.
