I love looking through old photographs, and recently discovered this one of my great-grandparents, my mother and me (yes, I was the prissy little girl with the purse and gloves!) I scanned the original and created this layout using my Cheery Lynn Designs Dies.
If you are like me, and keep up with every die in their catalog, then you may be wondering about the argyle cut at the bottom of the page. No, I didn't sneak in a preview of this month's release (although, I can say that you are going to LOVE all of the new dies). This is actually the negative space that was left over from my cuts using the
Lace Light Deco Border, that I used on the sides of my layout. After I finished cutting them, I noticed this wonderful pattern, that was just too pretty to throw away. I just backed it with a rectangle of paper, and tucked my picture behind some of the diamonds. So be sure to keep your eyes open to discover new ways to use these wonderful dies. I tucked the
Canadian Kaleidoscope behind the picture, and added a fluttering Butterfly from the
Exotic Butterflies Small #2 set, at the corner.
On the left of the page, you will see the pink and green frames that were cut with the
Reflections Boutique Mini Pearl French Flair Mega Doily. This is another set that I will use all of the time!! I layered part of the
French Lattice Large Frame over the French Flair, and filled each diamond with a flower created with the
Miniature Rose die.
I think it is so much more fun to create layouts with all of those long forgotten photos that are stored in drawers and boxes. So start looking around - what memories do you want to revisit?
The
new challenge is up - and I know it's one that you are going to want to play along with - Use your Cheery Lynn Dies to add flowers to your project. CLD has so many fantastic dies for flowers, I know this is going to be an easy one for you!
