Creative Inspirations Paint and Great Impressions Stamps Blog Hop
Hi! And welcome to the Creative Inspirations Paint/Great Impressions Stamps Blog Hop! The designers at CI teamed up with Great Impressions stamps to help them celebrate the grand opening of their new and awesome online store and to let you see how fantastic Creative Inspirations Paints look with these stamps. You should have arrived from Deloris's blog. My stop is halfway through the hop, so if you just stumbled here, you will want to go back to the beginning, at the Creative Inspirations Paint blog so you don't miss out on some fabulous candy and plenty of inspiration! You will have until March 11th at 8:00 pm EST to complete the hop - so that gives you the whole weekend.
That's right, I mentioned candy - and it is very sweet! The winner will get to choose 5 colors of paint from Creative Inspirations and will also get a $25 gift certificate to Great Impressions! To be eligible to win, you will need to leave comments on each of the blogs and collect letters as you go to find the mystery words, and leave a comment at the end, spelling out the answer. Pretty easy, huh?
So here is my card that I am sharing today. The main image is Lady in Love (G189). I colored in some of the details with Copics, but then painted over the shadows with Creative Inspirations Paint using Sea Foam for the dress, Autumn Wheat for the background and Amethyst and Royal Purple for the frame. I also added a layer of CI's gold glitter around the border of the frame.
My background paper matched the aqua color of my lady's dress very nicely, but there was no purple to tie it together. So, the Distressed Background stamp (K94) was the perfect solution. I inked it up and was able to add the purple that I needed. This is a stamp I will be using over and over again.
To add to the vintage look of the card, I stamped the Lace Frame (H212) and embossed in white. The embossing made it seem more like a layer, rather than just background.
I absolutely adore the look of gorgeous die-cuts that have been painted in sparkly goodness!
My letter is P. Don't forget to write it down, and collect one from each blog to form the secret answer. It's time to hop on to Shanna's blog. Have fun and thanks for stopping by!

Wow Embossing Powder and Stickers
I have a fun way to show you how to use stickers and embossing powder together.
1. Start with a sheet of stickers that has interesting shapes that you would like to use for embossing. Here, I chose the arrows.
2. Cut around the shape that you would like to use and remove the sticker. Peel the backing away from the remaining piece.
3. Stick this "mask" onto the paper where you wish to emboss.
4. Use a small embossing pad to ink the area. Make sure not to go off of the mask.
5. Sprinkle with embossing powder. I used a mixture of Wow's Suzy West Earthtone Honey and Earthtone Nutmeg.
5. Shake off the excess powder and heat set.
6. If there are areas that were not embossed, simply color in those areas with an embossing pen, add more powder and reheat.
** I also embossed my cloud stickers to give them more texture. Rub the embossing ink over the surface, sprinkle with Wow Opaque Bright White powder and heat set.

Welcome Spring!
I have really enjoyed being on the CottageCutz design team, but this is the end of my term, so this is my last post for them. The spring collection of CottageCutz dies from the Scrapping Cottage are really cute! And I'm going to show you how to adjust a seasonal die to use all year long! The CottageCutz Spring Doily is so cute with the bunnies and Easter Egg, but if you are not doing an Easter card, it's so easy to transform this into a cut you can use all year long. Just make a couple of snips to remove the center, and you are left with this great diecut. You could use it like a doily as I did here- or it would make a fantastic wreath base. Don't be afraid to change your dies up a bit and use them in unexpected ways. I also used the CottageCutz Watering Can, Tulips die set. This is one of those dies that you can use for so many occasions.

That Is Not a Phone
I was looking through my attic and found an antique phone, that actually still works (well sort of!) I took it downstairs to let my nephew try it out. He of course had no idea what that silly thing was, he certainly didn't think it was a phone! It also gave me the perfect opportunity for a cool layout.
I made a mold of the telephone dial using Amazing Mold Putty and cast it with the Amazing Casting Resin. I painted it using Creative Inspirations Paints. What was really cool, was that I had a Unity Stamp set that had the telephone numbers, that fit perfectly under my dial. Talk about serendipity!
So don't be afraid to come up with your own "out of the box" embellishments. Who knew a telephone dial would grace the pages of a layout?!
