Makin' a Splash with a Mixed Media Mermaid Video Tutorial

Summer is here! So to celebrate the magic of the season, I thought I would create a Mermaid Canvas.

The Dimensional Crystal created so much texture and sparkle for the seashells - and it is so easy to use.

We will make a simple stencil and mask to create this bubble background - which can also be used for any type of bokeh effect as well.

So, if you are ready to play along, here is the video. Let's jump in!

Wow Embossing Powder - Earthtone Olive; Bodacious Blue; Primary Sherbert

Cut a 5 x 7 decorative panel from the patterned paper and distress the edges.  Mount to a card base. Cut a smaller decorative printed rectangle, distress the edges and mount to the card using foam adhesives.  Cut the printed oval, stamp the floral image and color with Pitt Pen markers.  Fussy cut the image, and shape the leaves and petals.  Glue to the center of the oval.  Stamp and cut Arianna blooms with the matching die. Cut the flower centers and shape and add a pearl to the center.  Add these to the stamped bouquet to create dimension.  Die cut the greenery/ flourishes  and nestle around the flower cluster.  Stamp the sentiment on a long rectangle on light patterned paper.  Trim the edges to a fishtail as shown, and score  and fold to create the banner.  Add a dimensional flower to each side of the banner.  Finish with ribbon.

Xyron and Lawn Fawn Blog Hop

The Xyron Design Team is having fun this week playing with  Lawn Fawn!  All week long we will be sharing projects created using their darling stamp sets, and the Lawn Fawn Design Team will be sharing projects on their blog as well.

I decided to make an easy little favor, perfect for co-workers, VBS teachers, really anyone that you would like to help start their day great.

I made a cute little K-cup holder (I was inspired by the Lawn Fawn stamp set Love 'n Breakfast).  I put the holder together using the Xyron Double Sided High Tack tape and my Mega Runner.

Be sure to stop by the blogs the rest of the week, to see more adorable projects!

Zva Creative June DT Blog Hop!

Hello friends! Zva Creative and our talented Design Team welcome you to our June blog hop!  We are very excited to kick off another blog hop and to have you join us today.
The hop begins at Zva Creative’s blog! Be sure head on over to check it out! You will also find a complete list of all the participating blogs there (in case there is a glitch along the way).
As you know, Zva offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  If you like what you see along the hop you can find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.

Today, the designers were asked to use their favorite color/product.  Zva Creative has so many beautiful choices, but I have to say, I'm a pearl girl.  I love vintage things, and any kind of pearl always adds that special something.  As far as a favorite product - I just can't choose - but since I make lots of cards, I do appreciate that Zva has so many flourishes that are the perfect size for cardmakers.

So here is how I created my card.

1. Cut a card base 5" x 7" using the Natural cardstock.
2.   Cut a piece of the Beach cardstock 1/4" smaller and emboss using the M-Bossabilities folder.  Ink over the raised areas with Desert Sand ink.
3.  Cut a piece of cardstock in Sage 1 1/2" x 4 3/4".  Adhere satin ribbon to the middle.
3.  Line the edges of the last piece using the pearl strips.
4.  Die cut a border using the Moroccan Accents and adhere to the back of the ribboned panel. Adhere to the card.
5.  Stamp the decorative label using watermark ink and heat emboss with clear powder. Cut out the label.
6.  Stamp the sentiment with Chocolate ink. Use foam adhesives to apply to the card as shown.
7.  Die cut flowers, mist with Sandcastle Colorations and shape by pleating while damp.  Assemble the flower, add a large pearl for the center.
8.  Cut strips of ribbon with fish tail ends, and glue to the back of the flower.  Adhere the flower to the card.
9.  Cut the decorative flourishes and tuck behind the flower.
10. Finish with a corner pearl flourish.
