Graphic 45 Design Team 2014 Audition

I've been waiting a year for this post - and now is the time!  Graphic 45 is having their Design Team call, and you know, I love, love, love my G45, so of course I am throwing my hat in the ring.  This company is known for taking vintage imagery and rocking it in the most creative and contemporary ways.  When I was introduced to this line (years ago) - it was love at first site and I have been over the moon for every collection since then.   So I hope you enjoy this rather long post, that will highlight  some of my favorite Graphic 45 projects to date.  It's a mix of cards, layouts, up-cycles and beyond the page projects.  Just a sampling of what can be created with these gorgeous papers and accessories. So here it is,my Graphic 45 Design Team 2014 Audition. Good luck to all of those that apply!

May Arts Ribbon and Penny Black Week!

Welcome to the second day of the May Arts Ribbon - Penny Black Hop!  We have had lots of fun creating with these stamps and hope that you enjoy what we have made.  Be sure to leave lots of love throughout the hop, because the Ribbon Lady will be giving a prize away every day this week!

I have to tell you I am completely in-love with the May Arts Faux Linen Ribbon!  I only have it in this Seafoam color - but I think I will be getting all of the colors!  Not only is this ribbon a dream to stamp on, but I was also able to fussy cut it with out it unraveling - Can you imagine the possibilities?

Heartfelt Creations Inspiration Layout

Hi, I have a layout to share with you today that I created with some of my favorite Heartfelt Creations products.  I love making these stamped and die cut flowers - I think that add so much.  This is a picture of me holding my sweet little nephew a few years back and the sun was shining on us on a crisp fall morning.

I used the sketch/inspiration from Creative Embellishments March challenge for this layout.  My flowers were kind of clustered like the inspiration photo -found here.

Scroll down to the bottom of this post for directions on how to create this layout.

Distress the edges of a 12 x 12 sheet of patterned paper.  Adhere to purple cardstock and machine stitch around the edges.  Use a brick stencil and modeling paste to add bricks under the area that the flower cluster will be.  When the paste is dry,  brush on the Truffle brown paint and allow to dry, then place the stencil back and spray with mist. Cut decorative rectangles from the patterned paper to mount the photo.  Paint the edges of the photo mount with metallic 3d paint.  Accent with ribbons.  Die cut decorative pieces from the Ornamental Add On and the Raindrops on Roses Dies. Coat the die cuts with watermark ink and heat emboss with green powder.  Stamp the flowers with watermark ink and heat emboss with gold powder and cut  with the matching die.  Ink the flower edges with purple and the inner areas with green ink.  Shape the flowers.  Add micro beads to the center of the flowers.  Stamp and cut the leaves with the corresponding die.  Stamp the trunk onto brown patterned paper.  Continue stamping onto different shades of paper to create a paper pieced trunk to add to the flower cluster.  Add gem flourishes to finish as shown.

Cut a 6 x 6" card base from green cardstock.  Cut an oval frame from the patterned paper and then layer the printed oval over the top using foam adhesives.  Add some shading using the Pixie Dust ink and a Fantastix blender tool around the printed roses.  Die cut the Raindrops on Roses die and cut apart and layer around the top and the bottom of the oval.  Lightly mark in pencil on the  patterned card front where the oval will be.  Use this as a guide to stamp the bottom layers of ruffles from the Adorned in Roses stamp.  Use the purple ink, and color in with the Pixie Dust.  Glue ribbon across the center of the card front, and cut a sentiment strip from the paper and layer over the center of the ribbon.  Add pearls.  Use foam adhesives to apply oval.  Curl two corners of the card front and apply to base.  Cut small corners of green patterned paper to layer over the exposed cardstock. Finish with a  bow.

Mixed Media Canvas Video Tutorial

Are you ready to have some fun, building gorgeous layers of paint and stamps?  Then come on!  I've got a video tutorial to share with you today that will show you just how I created this canvas.

After I made this, my 8 year old nephew told his mother that he loved her because she was "Sparkle" - Somehow that just reminds me of this canvas.  I want to be Sparkle and Shine on!

Zva Creative February DT Blog Hop!

Hello friends! Zva Creative and our talented Design Team welcome you to our February blog hop!  We are very excited to kick off another blog hop and to have you join us today. We hope you are inspired all of the beautiful work that we are about to share!
The hop begins at Zva Creative’s blog! Be sure head on over to check it out! You will also find a complete list of all the participating blogs there (in case there is a glitch along the way).
As you know, Zva offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  If you like what you see along the hop you can find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.

Supplies:
 Crystals – Zva Creative CRB-03CB-112; CRW-03CB-152; CRW-04CB-133
Xyron 9” Creative Station
Patterned Paper – Heartfelt Creations – Raindrops on Roses
Cardstock – WorldWin  - Elan Metallics – Candied Violet; Vellum
Stamp – Heartfelt Creations – HCPC  3509 Timeless Sentiments
Die – Heartfelt Creations/Spellbinders  Sweet Juliet; Spellbinders Elegant Labels 4
Embossing Folder – Spellbinders Butterfly Kisses
Ribbon – May Arts 3/8” Wired Metallic GC-8-35
Paints: Art Anthology Velvet Dimensional Paints – Fiesta, Aloha
Embossing Powder – Stampendous – Detail Black
Watermark Ink - Versamark
Fiskars Fuse Die Cutting Machine, CTMH Heat Tool

Directions:
Cut a 5 ¾” square piece of vellum paper and draw the quilt block pattern on it.   Run the vellum through the 9” Xyron Creative Station to apply adhesive to one side.  Use three patterned papers to cut the pieces of the quilt block and line them up with the pattern on the vellum base. There will be 12 pieces of patterned paper that form the “quilt block”.  Dry emboss the entire “quilt block” as one sheet – so the pattern will be consistent across the surface.  With your finger, rub paint over the embossed areas to emphasize the raised design as well as to unify the papers.  Place a crystal in the center of each small square.  Place the butterfly flourish crystal as shown.  Die cut the label.  Stamp the sentiment with watermark ink and heat emboss with the powder.  Embellish the tag with ribbon and a die-cut leaf flourish.   Adhere to a 6 x 6 card base.

If you would like to play along with our design team, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way!
The Blog Hop starts today, February 24th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, February 25th.
***Prizes***
Hidden on FIVE of the blogs along the way is a Zva Creative prize package! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over. All you need to do is leave a comment on one post... you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. However, the more times you comment along the blog hop path, the more chances you will have to win.
The 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, February 26th on Zva Creative’s Facebook page. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to Zva’s page on Wednesday to see if you are a winner!
We also thought it would be more fun to add even more chances to win our blog hop prize!  To increase your chances of winning:
* Comment to let us know that you posted on your Facebook page about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you "tweeted" about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)

*Hop over to Zva’s Facebook page and “like” our page or leave a comment there to tell us that you stopped by if you already like us there!
The blog hop begins here at Zva Creative’s blog. I'm the last stop on the hop - so we hpoe you have enjoyed!
