Double the Fun

I don't normally make a lot of two-page layouts, but I challenged myself with this one. I used the fantastic new Graphic 45 Collection - Curiosity Shoppe.  I also played with the new Lucky 8 punches - which are really cool because they cut 12 x 12 diecuts. The one that I used on this layout is the Tatted Doily.

The flowers and leaves were made using the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals and Tattered Leaves. My border was cut with the Tim Holtz Deco Strip Lace.

I also used the coordinating Hampton Art / Graphic 45 Curiostiy Shoppe stamp set, to add more flying pigs to my layout.

You Inspire Me

I have a layout to share with you today of my sweet mother.  She has always been such an inspiration to me and our whole family.

I stamped the picture using Hampton Art Glue Pad and the Hampton Art Flourish and Bloom stamps - and sprinkled it with Art Institute Glitter, for a little sparkly bling.

What Matters Most

I've got a card to share with you today, that I think would be perfect for Mother's Day (which is this coming Sunday, so you've still got time to make a card!) I sorted through my Cheery Lynn Designs dies to find some that I haven't shared with you yet - and I was rather surprised that I could fit this many on a 6 x 6 card.

The bottom layer is cut from Sophia's Heart Doily - and although you can't see that much of it poking it, I still love the filigree edges of it. The next layers are stacked cuts from the French Flair Doily Stackers - this might be one of the most beautiful dies ever! The detail is just exquisite. My stamped sentiment (from Hampton Art) was cut using the Classic Window Stackers (which I also used to cut my flower petals smaller for the center). The flower was made with Stacker Flower #3 and Stacker Flower #6.  The Lace Rose and Flourishes was used for my greenery. Finally, I added one of the Lace Corner Deco F cuts.  These lace corners are always such a great way to finish of a design.

There is a new challenge at  Cheery Lynn Designs - this week the theme is purple.  We would love to have you play along, and you could even win a $20 gift certificate! Remember, next week is our new release!!! I'm so excited, and I know you will be too!

Isn't it yummy?  I wish I could find an old typewriter like the one it that photo -it's awesome!  Anyhow, you can see how I interpreted this challenge.

Sunday Best with Cheery Lynn Designs

I love looking through old photographs, and recently discovered this one of my great-grandparents, my mother and me (yes, I was the prissy little girl with the purse and gloves!) I scanned the original and created this layout using my Cheery Lynn Designs Dies.

If you are like me, and keep up with every die in their catalog, then you may be wondering about the argyle cut at the bottom of the page.  No, I didn't sneak in a preview of this month's release (although, I can say that you are going to LOVE all of the new dies).  This is actually the negative space that was left over from my cuts using the Lace Light Deco Border, that I used on the sides of my layout.  After I finished cutting them, I noticed this wonderful pattern, that was just too pretty to throw away. I just backed it with a rectangle of paper, and tucked my picture behind some of the diamonds.  So be sure to keep your eyes open to discover new ways to use these wonderful dies.  I tucked the Canadian Kaleidoscope behind the picture, and added a fluttering Butterfly from the Exotic Butterflies Small #2 set, at the corner.

On the left of the page, you will see the pink and green frames that were cut with the Reflections Boutique Mini Pearl French Flair Mega Doily.  This is another set that I will use all of the time!! I layered part of the French Lattice Large Frame over the French Flair, and filled each diamond with a flower created with the Miniature Rose die.

I think it is so much more fun to create layouts with all of those long forgotten photos that are stored in drawers and boxes.  So start looking around - what memories do you want to revisit?

The new challenge is up - and I know it's one that you are going to want to play along with - Use your Cheery Lynn Dies to add flowers to your project.  CLD has so many fantastic dies for flowers, I know this is going to be an easy one for you!

A Little Paperclay Love

It's time for my last post on the Creative Paperclay Design Team. It's been a fun six months, and I appreciate the opportunity to work with this company.  For my final project, I created a  shabby card. I molded an antique celluloid buckle  using Amazing Mold Putty, and then cast my Paperclay in the mold. I used Terri Sproul Mixers and Sakura Crystal Lacquer to paint my "vase" and added some paper blooms.  The sentiment was stamped with Hampton Art Graphic Love.

I hope I have inspired you to try adding some Creative Paperclay to your repertoire over the last few months!

Welcome {Spring}

Spring not only brings warmer weather and beautiful flowers, but often it brings brighter colors to our creative palate.

I thought this large wooden birdcage (18" x 9") from Kaisercraft would be more fun to decorate my door than a typical wreath.  And of course, I needed lots of beautiful flowers made with my Cheery Lynn Designs dies to decorate it.

The vine was created by putting two Mega Fanciful Flourish die cuts together.
The roses were made using the Miniature Rose, Medium Rose, and the Large Rose.  If you don't know how to combine these 3 sizes of flowers into one stunning rose, then check out that tutorial that Sandy Hulsart wrote, for very clear directions.  The name of the paper collection that I used for this project is Tiger Lily - so I thought I needed some name-sake flowers on this project (although mine remind me more of the Wild Azaleas that bloom around here).  I cut the Stacker Flower Three, and then painted a bright orange Creative Inspirations Paint around the center of the flower.  After that was dry, I spritzed it with Smooch, to create the distinct markings.  I rolled each petal around a paintbrush, and then used a little embroidery floss for the stamens.  The Aster Daisies were made with two layers of  Stacker Flower Four and resin flowers for the centers.

I hope you have been inspired to try using your Cheery Lynn Designs die cuts on all kinds of projects! It's always fun to think outside of the box. The challenge this week at the Cheery Lynn Challenge Blog is For Mom - don't you think this would make a lovely gift for Mother's Day?

Pretty in Purple

I have a pretty simple card to share with you today - but I just wanted to show how pretty die-cuts looks with metallic paper. I used one of the dies form the Persian Motifs and cut it from Kanban Crafts metallic paper in purple. The sentiment was framed using a die from the Nested Pennants set.
